The Indian Express reports on “I: Putting the Eye in IAS”
As the JNU controversy goes on, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan released the first book by a differently-abled alumnus of the university. The book, “Putting the EYE in the IAS”, is written by visually challenged IAS officer Rajesh Singh, who had to fight a long legal battle after clearing his exams to get an IAS posting. Currently posted as Joint Secretary in Department of Women and Child Development in Jharkhand, Singh, speaking to the media after the event at the Press Club, profusely thanked JNU for getting him where he has reached in life. Although not supporting any alleged “anti-national” activity, Singh said JNU is like a laboratory where people get a chance to experiment with ideas. The university, he said, has 100 per cent acceptability of the differently-abled — not by force of law but thanks to its liberal culture.
